L'Oréal, global leader in the cosmetics market, is present in over 130 countries worldwide and has an annual turnover of some 14.5 billion euros (2004).
Present in the UK since 1932, L'Oréal UK is the Group's fourth largest subsidiary in Europe and fifth worldwide, achieving a turnover of 607 million in 2004.
L'Oréal with over 2,500 employees in the UK and Ireland, is made up of four divisions:
L'Oréal's brands and products are present in all retail distribution channels: mass market (supermarkets and leading chemists), hairdressing salons, department stores and pharmacies. In the UK, L'Oréal Group brands can be found in nine out of ten homes in the UK and four L'Oréal products are bought every second.
The UK subsidiary has an important production role within the L'Oréal Group. The Llantrisant factory produces hair care and hair styling products, which are distributed around the world. L'Oréal UK has distribution centres in Manchester, Llantrisant, Chesham and West Molesey. |

The company is an active member of the cosmetics industry and belongs to several key organisations, including the Cosmetic Toiletry & Perfumery Association (CTPA) and British Aerosol Manufacturers' Association (BAMA) amongst others.
